"We loved having the best of both worlds at Villa Valhalla. We loved being on the 4x4 beach but still were so close to town and activities. The house was phenomenal and fit every need we had."

Everything was well maintained and Twiddy was absolutely responsive to all requests including additional garbage pickups. "This is our second time in Villa Valhalla and this visit was just as good as the first! The home is clean, well maintained, well stocked with everything you could need, beds are comfortable, and there is plenty of room to spread out. We especially enjoy the upstairs bar overlooking the ocean when having nightly cocktails. You can see both sunrise and sunset from the house's decks. We made many meals together in the well appointed kitchen. The guest house is just stunning! The location on the beach means it is less than 10 minutes of driving on the beach to get to the main road. We saw the horses many times during our week."

"best features of this home include a really nice pool, not just a fiberglass insert, hot tub, the decor and interior is well thought out, and executed. The music system is fantastic but the internet is slow and the music pauses a lot if too many people are on the internet. the elevator is great when it works to get heavy coolers, food, and drinks up to the 3rd floor kitchen level. Love the outdoor shower. The guest house is a key feature of this home. the grill is too small, should be a 6 burner grill or 2 4 burner grills"

"What we loved? Everything. Kitchen was well appointed for our event. Pool & bar area were perfect. Guest house was amazing. Extraordinary location. Horses every day. We held our wedding reception here and couldn’t have asked for a better place. We had a couple small maintenance issues they prob weren’t aware of and Twiddy and Property owners were fast to respond to get them addressed. Gorgeous views. It was all perfect."

"Villa Valhalla was the perfect home for our family, with ages ranging from 18 months to nearly 84 years. Plenty of room to be all together in the great room or enjoy smaller group activities in the theater room, or at the gorgeous guest house. The kids (and one indulgent Papa) bounced from the ocean (cold) to the "cold pool" to the "hot pool" any time they could corral an adult to watch them. And the wild horses came to visit (read: stand blocking the driveway staring at anyone in the 2nd floor hammock) nearly every day! We highly recommend this house to any large group!"

"The home is beautiful on the inside and everything you need to use for a house was there. A few pans need replaced due to rust on bottom but over all everything was in great shape and high quality. The pool and hot tub were very nice. It was a bit dull on the outside and the bugs are terrible and the house was covered within the 2nd day being there and discussing by time we left. Not sure if that is something that Just takes place in Aug or not. We loved that is was close to the beach."

"This was our second year staying here. Uh-mazing is all we have to say. They had some really good upgrades from last year. The bedroom sets are great, a brand new tv in the theater room, but the guest cottage is the best. love the ice machine, it’s a very good quality and we used it a ton. Oh and I noticed all the Pottery Barn furnishings…high class all the way!"

"Villa Valhalla is a fantastic house with top notch amenities, and high end everything. Our only complaint, and it's significant, is the mayflies. I see it mentioned in other listings back to October of 2020. Obviously the owners cannot eliminate mayflies, but perhaps better control measures could be installed. Screened in porches would be an amazing upgrade to control this issue. As it stands, we chose not to use the decks at all because of the sheer volume of bugs. They coated all doorways, chairs, etc. If this issue was mitigated, this would by far be the best Twiddy rental we've ever stayed in."

"This is a beautiful home with every amenity you can think of. The wild horses visited daily which added to our enjoyment. My husband I stayed in the guest house while the remainder of our group stayed in the main house. We really liked the layout of the guest house bedroom and all the space. The bed was very comfortable too! My only complaint is that the pool is not heated, which wasn’t too big of a deal as we spent majority of our time on the beach. We hope to return again and enjoy another week at the Villa Valhalla!"

"Villa Valhalla was perfect! A beautiful home with an extraordinary view! Location: The location and views were amazing. Only 2 miles down the 4x4 beach so it’s the best of both worlds. You get the 4x4 beach experience but have the flexibility to easily return to town if needed. You have sunrises off the back and sunsets off the front of the house. Horses: It is crazy how often you see the horses. We were worried and thought we would have to go find them. Not the case at all. They were everywhere. Amenities: This house has everything you could possibly need. I wish previous reviews were more detailed or the amenities were listed and we would have packed less. - Main kitchen- more dishes then you could ever need, servers, Tupperware, placemats, Keurig coffee maker, regular coffee maker, griddle, toaster, microwave, 2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, 2 sinks, and a large pantry. There were extra cleaning supplies under the sink and extra spices in the pantry. My only negative comment about the kitchen is that the 2 freezers did not have working ice makers. You either have to buy ice or use the wet bar ice maker. - Main floor bar- has a variety of different glassware, a wine fridge, and an ice maker (the only working one in the house. It is amazing!) - Lower Level Bar- has a sink, plenty of cabinet storage and a refrigerator (once again the ice maker does not work) - Lower level theatre room- The kids loved this room!! They have a million DVD’s to pick from and a DVD player in the closet next to the TV - Bedrooms- All bedrooms were well appointed, had an adjoining bathroom, and were stocked with a towel set for each person staying in the bedroom. (Because we stayed during COVID, there were only sheets, pillows, towels and a blanket in the closet. There were no decorative bed linens.) - Pool- We stayed the 1st week in May so the pool was definitely chilly (would have been great if it was heated) but the kids didn’t mind. - Hot tub- Was perfect for the cool nights in early May. - Outside Cabana- nice to offer some shade during the day, eat lunch, or have amenities out by the pool (sink, mini fridge, storage). There was plenty of outside furniture for everyone to relax. - Outside Bathroom- was perfect for anyone that has children so they don’t have to go inside the house wet to use the restroom. - Beach/ Pool Amenities- There are a few beach chairs and boogie boards that are stored in the outside bathroom. Compared to the quality and standards of everything else in the house, the beach chairs should be replaced. I also think they should also offer at least 1 chair per bedroom. Other: - Super Clean - Water- is not drinkable. It has a yellow/ rust color and bad taste and odor. Please make sure you pack bottled water for drinking and making coffee. - Groceries- We ordered from Grocery Genie and had them delivered prior to our arrival. It was super easy and eliminated having to pack or take time away from our vacation food shopping. The grocery store is about 20-30 minutes in no traffic. There is a Food Lion and Harris Teeters. - May Flies- Definitely true. You have to watch to not leave a door or window open. You also have to make sure to skim the pool every morning."

"Villa Valhalla is meticulously cared for. The owners have spared no expense to make the home comfortable and well equipped. The caretakers do a phenomenal job of keeping the home clean and well maintained. The location and views are perfect. Can't wait to return!"

"Our group loved Villa Valhalla! The layout was perfect, the amenties were above and beyond and the decor was beautiful and relaxing! If only they could do something about the May Flies ;)! Since we were there in October, a heated pool would have been more enticing for the adults to go in, but the cold didn't stop the kids. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with everyone, we will definitely be back!"
