What to Expect for Your Stay

Few things feed the soul like the warmth of the sun, the crashing of waves, the scent of salt air, and being together with loved ones. We look forward to welcoming you as we’ve done for more than 45 years, with southern hospitality and a commitment to doing our part to ensure a vacation that will bring you many cherished memories for years to come.

Check-In

Check-in is after 4:00 PM.

Unless early check-in was confirmed and paid for prior to arrival. If this is your first time staying with us, verifying your ID may be required for access to the home.

You will receive a text message when the home is ready. If you arrive in the area early, please refrain from going to the home or parking in the driveway until you receive the text. Parking at the home could delay or stop services from being completed.

Update your phone number

Guests staying in keyless homes will not come to the office for check-in. You may go directly to the home once you receive your text that the home is ready for your arrival. See our troubleshooting guide if you experience difficulty with the keyless entry system.

How do I know if I have Keyless entry?

For homes with physical keys, you may proceed to the office to pick up your keys to the home once you receive the text that the home is ready for your arrival. If you will be arriving after our office has closed, your check-in packet will be left in the After-Hours Exchange box if your balance is paid in full and we have your signed lease. These boxes are located beside each office's main entrance door.

Things to Know

Welcome Bag/Starter Supplies

We understand the importance of starter supplies such as toilet paper and soap. While amenities vary by property, we aim to provide a comfortable beginning to your stay. To find out if your home is part of our welcome program and for details on what it offers, please refer to the property details page on Twiddy.com.

Unannounced Vendor Visits

Occasionally, technicians or vendors may need to visit the property for maintenance or inspections. We strive to minimize disruptions and ensure you are informed ahead of time. If you receive an unexpected visit, please know that it is part of our effort to maintain the home's quality during your stay.

Kitchen Etiquette

Due to the extended duration of dishwasher cycles, you may find it full upon arrival. Kindly assist us by loading and starting the dishwasher before your departure. This ensures our cleaners can unload it for the next guests.

Empty Propane Tanks

Our advertised gas grills come with propane tank replacements included. We perform regular inspections to ensure all utilities, including propane tanks, are properly serviced. Should you encounter an empty tank, you may bring the empty take to our Duck or Corolla office to exchange them or, if our office is closed, you may exchange the tank at one of these locations. If you purchase a propane refill, take a photo of the receipt and text it to 252-888-2598, we will then mail a check to the address on file. For more information about what your home offers, please refer to the property details page on Twiddy.com.

Pool Service

Pools are cleaned, vacuumed and serviced on the day of guest arrival. A mid-week service, including chemical and mechanical checks, is provided, but does not include cleaning or vacuuming. Sand in the pool is a common occurrence in our coastal community. This does not impact the chemical balance or the functionality of the pool. A skimmer net is provided at the home to remove surface debris and prevent clogging of the filtration system.

Linens

For reservations that include linens, most beds will be made with a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, and pillowcases.

Top Bunks: To ensure the safety of our team and due to lower usage, fresh linens will be provided neatly folded on the top bunk beds rather than being made up. Top bunks, trundles, futons, rollaways, and sleep sofas are not made on the day of arrival.

Check-out

Check-out is at 10:00 AM without exception.

Please make sure all of the following items are addressed prior to your departure:

  • Tidy up inside - wipe down counters and tables, put items back that may have been moved, and try to leave the home like you found it as best you can.
  • Remove all food from the refrigerator and set temperature to medium.
  • Load and start the dishwasher.
  • Please leave all linens on beds and towels in the rooms for which they were provided. Fold and place any extra blankets back in the closet.

  • Tidy up outside including the decks, yard, and pool area, if applicable.
  • Clean the grill with the brush provided.

  • Set thermostat to 72° for air conditioning in warm months or 55° for heat in cool months.
  • Return keys to your check-in office. Please note there is a $5.00 charge for lost keys. For keyless entry homes, you do not need to come to our office for check-out, but entry codes will expire at 10:00 am.
  • A survey will be emailed to the leaseholder on the day of departure.
  • For guests staying on the 4x4 late April to October, please ensure the 4x4 beach parking passes are placed back in the red envelope on the kitchen counter at the end of your stay.
