The Twiddy name was one picked at random by my wife and I. Like many beach visitors, we always held a dream of one day owning "a place at the shore." Little did we know at that time that our dream was about to come true. We met our Twiddy agent and spoke at length of our interest and "the dream." In the late summer of 2008, I was an unannounced walk-in to the Twiddy Sales Office in Corolla where I was introduced to Mr. Jason Summerton. Jason immediately dropped everything he was doing to spend time with me answering my questions and educating me about the market. I instantly felt comfortable with Jason and at no time was there pressure from him or any implied obligation in exchange for his time. We had a lengthy discussion and then spent the better part of 4 hours touring the Corolla neighborhoods. Jason painted a vivid picture of what life was like in the area and made me feel at home. The next day we continued the tour in 4WD and he was patient and accommodating despite my slow dissension on the “learning curve”. In the weeks that followed Jason was supportive of my search to find the exact site I was looking for, he had insights about the target area and specific lots that I am certain saved me tens if not hundreds of thousand of dollars in the negotiation. Jason was instrumental in helping us find the right builder and guided us through the permitting and environmental red tape clarifying and validating our purchase. Had Jason not been there the way he was for us, I am certain we would not have found our lots nor closed the transaction. Jason is clearly passionate about customers service, has incomparable knowledge of his markets and sharp business acumen. I contacted Twiddy once I believed my wife and I could finally afford a second home in the Outer Banks. We had vacationed with Twiddy for 15 years; Always with confidence and always a pleasurable experience. Jason Summerton of Twiddy sales, took the time to show my wife and I properties and to develop a true sense of what we were looking for: even, when it became evident that we weren’t sure ourselves. We immediately felt comfortable. In short order, over the course of a week end, we were no longer looking at houses but at lots. Being from ‘the north” our trust in Jason facilitated the offer, acceptance, and purchase of a lot in Swan Beach, without ever leaving New Jersey. A few emails, a few wire transfers, and we were property owners. That is where the relationship with a buyer’s agent usually ends. Jason however; recommended a builder, assisted in building our relationship with a local bank and within months we had a vacation home, again without incidence; and again, without having to travel. Jason, Brian Brumfield construction, and Drew Wright with Bank of America treated us like family. I have heard horror stories from people who have built homes in their own town. I am a builder and an environmental contractor. I have seen this and I know it is hard to find people you can trust in real estate and in construction. I was lucky enough to build from N.J. in North Carolina without a hitch thanks to Twiddy and Jason. I can not emphasize enough the honesty Jason exhibits and the trust I have in him and in Twiddy. I am eight hours away…. Jason has a key to my house. I attempted to buy a restaurant recently in Corolla... I went to Jason. He immediately said to me “I am not a commercial agent let me put you in touch with someone…” I replied ‘I’ll take my chances I’d rather deal with someone I trust”. I truly believe Jason puts the needs and desires of his clients before all else. My wife and myself for several years felt we would never afford property on the outer banks. With the recent slow down in the economy we thought it would be a good time to do some window shopping "it does not cost to look". While driving around in Carova, I bumped into Jason Summerton from Twiddy Realty and explained our situation. We live off a honest but average income. Jason took down our information, Quite frankly, I never expected to hear from him again. A short time later he called me with something in our price range. There was no high pressure to make an offer or to sign an agreement. I was a bit nervous when we visited there office in Corolla to discuss the contract. The office is quite impressive and the property we wanted was frugal. I was impressed and flattered that every member of the staff treated us with that casual southern charm that gets lost in some big businesses.
